Wahoo gives you workout data. Rudder puts it in context.

ELEMNT computers and KICKR trainers capture power, HR, and duration. Rudder uses that history to make better daily decisions.

What data comes in

Completed workouts — duration, distance, elevation, average/max power, average/max HR, cadence, calories. From ELEMNT bike computers and KICKR smart trainers.

What Wahoo is good at

Accurate power and HR data during rides. ELEMNT computers are popular with serious cyclists. KICKR trainers are the indoor training standard. Clean data capture without phone dependency.

What it misses

Recovery signals — no sleep, no HRV, no readiness. How you feel. Your training plan. Whether yesterday’s workout was too much for today. Wahoo is a device ecosystem, not a wellness platform.

How Rudder uses it

Wahoo feeds the Load channel — workouts are stored alongside Strava activities. Rudder uses them for:

  • ·Hard session counting
  • ·Consecutive training day tracking
  • ·TSS estimation

If you use Wahoo instead of Strava (or both), Rudder sees all your training stress in one place. No data is lost between platforms.

Best for

Athletes who ride with Wahoo ELEMNT computers or train on KICKR and don’t auto-sync everything to Strava. Also useful as a secondary source to ensure no workouts are missed.

Example decision

You did a hard KICKR session Tuesday (captured by Wahoo) and a group ride Thursday (captured by Strava). Both show in Rudder’s load channel. Saturday’s plan: threshold intervals.

Rudder: GO WITH LIMITS. 2 hard sessions in 4 days, cap at sweet spot, save the threshold effort for Monday when you’ve had a rest day.

Frequently asked

What data does Rudder read from Wahoo?
Workout data including power, heart rate, duration, and cadence from ELEMNT head units and KICKR smart trainers.
Do I need a Wahoo head unit?
A Wahoo ELEMNT or KICKR provides the richest data. But if your Wahoo workouts sync to Strava, Rudder reads them from there too.
